Course Studio Job Board

Account Director

Description

About Course Studio

We’re a full service digital product agency. We build businesses at the intersection of content and commerce, and since 2020, we’ve been focused on the creator economy and online education spaces.

About the Role

The Account Director role is for someone who loves being the ultimate relationship builder and problem solver.

You're the person who can read a room in seconds, tackle tough conversations without breaking a sweat, and somehow remember every stakeholder's coffee order (okay, maybe not that last one, but you get the idea).

You'll own some of our most important client relationships and help them navigate the exciting, and sometimes choppy, waters of digital product development. The ideal candidate thrives in the space between strategic thinking and tactical execution, and who isn't afraid to have those "we need to talk about the budget" conversations. We're looking for someone who can spot growth opportunities for both our clients and for Course Studio, and who has experience turning simple projects into long-term partnerships.

In addition to managing and expanding existing client relationships, this role will also be responsible for generating new ones. As new clients approach Course Studio, you’ll have the opportunity to assess their needs, define strategies, and work with our internal teams to scope and estimate their projects. Once on board, you’ll help grow those accounts over the long term alongside our project teams.

We are open to candidates based between PST and EST time zones. The core of our team and clients are located in North America. We’re a fully remote company so this is a remote position, although there may be requirements to travel for various events.

Responsibilities

  • Own and nurture relationships with key clients, serving as their strategic advisor and main point of contact
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure client satisfaction, resolve escalations, and maintain alignment between client expectations and our project delivery
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies, identifying opportunities to expand services and deepen partnerships with existing clients
  • Lead strategic planning sessions with clients to understand their long-term goals and develop roadmaps for future engagements
  • Partner with design and engineering leaders to craft compelling proposals and solutions that align with client needs and business objectives
  • Monitor and maintain account health metrics, including client satisfaction, revenue growth, and project success indicators
  • Support new business efforts by participating in pitch meetings and helping transition new clients into successful long-term partnerships
  • Establish and maintain processes for account planning, reporting, and growth tracking

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of account management or client partnership experience, ideally in a digital agency environment working with web, mobile, or product development projects
  • Excellent relationship-building abilities and emotional intelligence — you can read between the lines, understand unstated needs, and build trust with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to navigate tricky stakeholder dynamics and tackle difficult conversations proactively - you're diplomatic yet direct, and can maintain strong relationships while having uncomfortable discussions about timeline delays, scope changes, or budget constraints
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to understand client business objectives and translate them into digital solutions
  • Solid understanding of digital product development, digital marketing, web design, and engineering processes to have meaningful conversations about project approaches and solutions
  • Track record of growing accounts and identifying new opportunities within existing client relationships
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills — you can facilitate workshops, lead strategic discussions, and navigate difficult conversations
  • Experience with project scoping, proposal writing, and budget management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple client relationships simultaneously
  • Background working with online learning platforms, e-commerce solutions, or creator economy tools is a plus

Compensation and benefits

  • Unlimited paid time off for vacation, sick days, and personal time as needed. We actively encourage team members to make use of this time-off policy
  • Flexible working hours and remote-friendly culture
  • Extended health care benefits for Canadian employees
  • The chance to play a part in the genesis and evolution of important creator brands, such as Esther Perel, Colin & Samir, Shan Boodram and Sophia Amoruso
  • Competitive compensation
